Taking care of your artificial plants
While caring for artificial plants won’t take much time out of your day, there are some fundamental tips that will ensure that your faux beauties are always looking their best. Here is the ArtificialPlantCompany.com.au’s official guide to taking care of your artificial plants.
Tip 1. Clean your artificial Plants
Like everything in your home, your artificial plants will need cleaning from time to time. It is important to occasionally wipe down the leaves of your plants as dust, dirt, and dander will over time collect on the foliage of your plants and create a lustre that will have your plants looking sad and dull.
If you want your plants looking their best all year round, then the secret is called leaf shine. Leaf shine is a spray mist that be applied to your artificial plants foliage to give them that shiny, lush look.
Tip 2. Don't spend money on leaf shine or chemical cleaners
While you can buy “official” leaf polish which can be applied to both natural and faux foliage, we strongly recommend against this type of polish as we believe that it can actually do more harm than good. Store bought leaf polishes often contain hard chemicals which once applied will begin to absorb into the materials of the artificial plant and can cause deterioration of the leaves which will dramatically impact the look of the plant. While the leaves may initially look shiny and crisp, once that dust layer begins to build up again, it is often very difficult to remove the dust clogged layer of plant shine without doing even more damage to your plant's foliage.
But don’t panic, we’re here to help. Keep reading and we will explain how to make your own leaf shine, that will ensure your artificial plants look happy and healthy all the tme and will save you some money as well.
Tip 3. Make your own artificial leaf shine and cleaner
